22 men arrested at Coronation Market

Friday, July 30, 2010

THE security forces swarmed the Coronation Market in downtown Kingston, detaining several individuals today.

About 20 men were seen detained on the burnt out compound of the Darling Street Police Station.

It was not clear if any illegal weapons or contraband were seized by the police, however.

Several police and military vehicles were seen patrolling or parked at various points outside the market.

Activity in the Coronation Market, commonly called 'Curry', has in recent weeks been returning to normal after arsonists set sections ablaze in during civil unrest to prevent the arrest of former Tivoli Gardens strongman Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.

The police station was also set on fire by the hoodlums.
