"Thirty years in business - 29 of those at 4 Dilcoosha Avenue. It was time to change direction. We eliminated areas over the year, eg the bridal registry, decorative furniture and objects d'art... as a result we needed less space."
Jean Anderson-Wright and Patricia Samuels can now breathe a sigh of relief. The dynamic pair, who happen to be sisters and business partners, have relocated their Signatures boutique from Dilcoosha Avenue to Unit 9 Lee Gore Business Centre. Thankfully, the pearl and charcoal interior has found favour with their discerning clientele. "Our clients have come by several times in the same week," shares Anderson-Wright. "It was," adds Samuels, "very important that we identified the right location."
It was all quite happenstance, really, with Samuels spotting the construction site and, following discreet enquiries, securing the spot.
Getting it right meant ensuring the availability of interior design specialist Phillipa Epstein, who worked closely with the sisters to achieve what she refers to as "think Coco Chanel: timeless artistry with cutting-edge chic".
Indeed, the polished jewel: white tufted walls and baroque lacquered furniture upholstered in faux crocodile skin are luxe details that complement the haute collection. The furniture is a combination of Louis XV and Regency styles with vintage-inspired chandeliers and pendant lighting. A Burien area rug anchors the space.
The well-appointed dressing rooms are adorned in Arabesque patterned wallpaper in black and white with quotes from, who else? Coco Chanel.
