Bill Clinton to speak in Ja next month
Friday, September 03, 2010
FORMER United States President Bill Clinton will deliver a public lecture at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston on October 25, according to a news release from the organisers, Whisky Productions.
Clinton, the 42nd American president, will speak on the topic 'Embracing our common humanity', which defines his current and growing international activism.
Clinton, who served as president for eight years during a time of unprecedented prosperity in America, is now — through his William J Clinton Foundation — a powerful voice in the fight against HIV/AIDS worldwide.
In 2009, Clinton was named United Nations Special Envoy for Haiti. This year, the Clinton Foundation dedicated resources to help with immediate and long-term relief and assistance following the earthquake that devastated Port-au-Prince in January this year.

Best person to give that lecture.

How sad it is that we continue to ignore history while continuing to embrace those who mean us and no good. When will Jamaicans and black people worldwide wake up to the fact that the west never has and never will love us no matter how desperate we love them. Know your history or you will be doomed over and over again to repeat it.

Oh get over yourselves. Bill Clinton is coming to Jamaica to speak because he has been paid. Why make all the fuss about it when he leaving Jamaica with a pocket of cash and his visit doesn't benefit the ordinary Jamaican.

C M. That won't happen. We have been told that relations between Jamaica and America have broken down so we will act like this is true regardless of evidence to the contrary.

Clinton's speaking fees are NOT cheap. In 2005 CNN reported that he earned 7.5million.While I have always admired him and am heartened to hear of his visit. I will have to watch the clip on TV.
