POLICE are investigating the mysterious death of a homeless man near the intersection of Duke and Port Royal streets in downtown Kingston this morning.

The dead man, who police said was in his late thirties, was found lying face down on the sidewalk beside two pieces of watermelon.

He was clad in a pair of brown pants and was shirt less.

Officers on the scene said they had not found any evidence that the man was murdered.

"He might have been here from this morning but because of how he was lying down people thought that he was just sleeping," the officer said, "We have not found any signs that he was attacked or anything as yet though."

The officers were seen cordoning off that section of Duke Street, outside the Bank of Nova Scotia, as they re-directed traffic from the roadway.
