'Dangerous' dreams big

Saturday, February 11, 2012

THE entertainment industry is filled with hopefuls — all seeking their piece of the musical pie. But for Lipton Russell, aka Dangerous, he is set on carving his own niche.

"My music has a lot of impact on society. I know that they love reality tunes, and that's what I am coming with," he told the Observer.

Based in England, Dangerous is from the parish of St Thomas. He said from as long as he can remember, music always fascinated him.

It was this love that saw him never missing a chance to showcase his talent at school and community concerts.

Later on, he moved on to working with sound systems in the 90s doing dubplates and migrated to England in 1999. While holding down a job, he continued to pursue his love of music, performing on stage shows and doing recordings.

Recording Bad Mind, he headed back to Jamaica to do the video in 2009.

"When you want real vibes you have to head back to the source," said Dangerous, of his decision to shoot the video in his homeland.

Dangerous followed up that single with Ghost Town.

The deejay is now in the island promoting his label Rodless Production where he has already recorded local act Egg Nog, with plans in the pipeline of doing more.

His latest recording is a dancehall gospel song entitled The Answer Always.
