HIT OR MISS - SELASSIE SOULJAHZ
Chronixx featuring Kabaka Pyramid, Protojé, and Sizzla Kalonji
WITH DOMINIC BELL
Tuesday, March 19, 2013
There seems to be no-stopping the ongoing reggae revival taking place locally, with the release of another one-drop anthem, courtesy of fast-riser Chronixx.
The posse cut Selassie Souljahz, finds Chronixx teaming up with fellow young musical sparks Kabaka Pyramid and Protojé, alongside veteran luminary Sizzla Kalonji.
As the title suggests, Selassie Souljahz is an afrocentric track done in dedication of the artistes' Rastafari faith.
Each verse executed by the featured artistes speaks to strength, resilience, and humility, as key traits that they possess.
These traits, they implore, are needed when trying to be bastion of positive musical vibrations within the unforgiving society that we live in today.
Commendations must be given to each artiste from not straying from the song's topic, an often mistake found in posse cuts, and that each verse rubbished the notion that reggae artistes can't be as lyrical as their dancehall contemporaries.
teenAGE Hit OR Miss believes that Selassie Souljahz is a solid track, and is another great addition to the growing repertoire of Chronixx.
