TORTULA-based Rastafarian reggae singer, Maccabee said he has high hopes in his recently released single Turn Your Lights Down Low.

The track is one of the songs from his debut album Peace Joy and Harmony and is produced on his Mac Productions label.

"Turn Your Lights Down Low is the song that I believe will propel my career to higher heights as it is a song that the ladies won't be able to get enough of," he said.

He said the single should not be confused with Bob Marley's track of a similar name. He, however, cites Marley, Third World, Beres Hammond, Dennis Brown, Garnett Silk and Peter Tosh as his influence.

Other songs on the album includes Serious Thing and Whats Going On in which he identifies several issues in the cultural upbringing of today's youths.

Maccabee — whose real name is Junior Bradford Prince — said he will be travelling to Jamaica later this month to promote the single Turn Your Lights Down Low.

"My team (Mac Productions) and I will also including shooting the music video using some of the most scenic locations in Jamaica," Maccabee told the Jamaica Observer.

The singer continued by saying that he firmly encourages the integration of Caribbean music as he believes that this will increase the international presence of Caribbean artistes and as such make it easier for them to break into the international mainstream music market.

"I hope that my music can impact my Caribbean brothers and sisters as well as the rest of world and as such when I write, I try my best to create material that anyone can relate to", said Maccabee.

The reggae singer, who is in his 30s, was born in Antigua but migrated to British Virgin Islands as an infant. His love for singing led him to become a member of a church choir. He is also known for other singles like Beautiful, Give Thanks and Praise, and No Hesitation.
