Swedish reggae producer dies

THE Swedish reggae community is mourning the tragic death of producer and musician Tom Hofwander.
Hofwander, more commonly known as Internal Dread, died on Monday after he fell from a bus in Denmark during a tour with Swedish pop and soul singer Veronica Maggio.
According to the website www.politiken.dk, the 58-year-old was working as an audio technician for Maggio, who was performing at the Skanderberg Festival.
Police believe that Hofwander may have inadvertently opened the back door of the bus and fell out.
The late producer was a key figure Swedish reggae scene and was the founder of Rub-A-Dub studio in Stockholm in 1984.
During his many years on the reggae scene, Internal Dread not only worked with reggae artistes such as Dennis Bovell, Joseph Beckford, Desmond Foster, and Linton Kwesi Johnson, but also pop and rock singers Robyn and Salem Al Fakir.
His last album was the instrumental double disc Melodica Buffet released in 2010.
