Fraudulent PATH cheques in circulation
Friday, September 03, 2010
THE Ministry of Labour and Social Security yesterday asked supermarkets, wholesalers, shopkeepers, merchants and other business owners to be on the lookout for fraudulent PATH cheques.
"If you assist PATH clients by encashing their cheques, please ensure that persons provide a valid form of identification," the ministry said in a release yesterday.
Persons accepting PATH cheques for encashment were also asked to ensure that they verify the authenticity by paying close attention to the following validation features:
* Cheques should be printed in two colours -- blue and burgundy. Do not accept cheques unless these colours are present.
* When held at angle, the security mark should be visible on the back of the cheque. Do not accept if the security mark is absent.
