GATESHEAD, England (AP) — American Tyson Gay edged Asafa Powell in the 100 meters at the British Grand Prix earlier today.
Gay won in 9.94 seconds, just two-hundredths of a second faster than his Jamaican rival.
Gay said he wasn't sure he'd won the tight race in Gateshead, England. He said he was a little rusty because he's been nursing a hamstring injury.
Powell said he eased up too much at the end.
