Herbert Morrison's Paul Adams is JTA president elect

PRINCIPAL of the Herbert Morrison High School in St James, Paul Adams as been elected to be the next leader of the Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) for 2010-2011.

A preliminary count of votes that were taken at a special Central Executive meeting at the JTA Headquarters on Church Street in Kingston, Tuesday, showed that Adams polled 6,855 votes to competitor's Clayton Hall, 3,674; Mark Nicely, 2,860; and Stevie Williams 1,058.

"Mr Adams will be proclaimed President Elect for the official opening session of the 46th Annual Conference to be held on August 16, 2010, beginning at 8:00 pm. He served as President during the 2001-2002 Conference year," the JTA said in a release late Tuesday evening.
