FIVE teams were unbeaten at the end of the preliminary rounds of the INSPORTS Kingston and St Andrew Primary Netball League at the Leila Robinson Courts yesterday.
These teams are defending champions St Patrick's, last year's runners-up St Benedict's, Mona, August Town and Alpha. All five finished atop their respective groups.
Meanwhile, the three best second-placed finishers will join the group winners in the quarter-final KO stage scheduled for tomorrow.
St Patrick's, who became the first team to qualify for the quarter-finals after winning their first four games, completed the preliminary round with a convincing 22-1 win over Tavares Gardens after leading 11-0 at half-time.
The win for the Lecia Walters-coached St Patrick's saw them topping Zone 1 with 15 points. Tavares ended with nine, likewise Rollington Town with nine from five games.
St Benedict's captured Zone 2 by defeating George Headley 12-7. It was George Headley's first loss in five games and they ended with 12 points.
Multiple winners Mona turned back arch-rivals Clan Carthy with a close and exciting 13-11 win to win Zone 3 with 12 points. The two were battling for a spot in the zone with Clan Carthy ending on nine. Mona led 6-4 at the interval.
August Town took Zone 4 with 12 points after beating Port Royal, 14-9. The losers fought back well in the second half after trailing 12-1 at half-time. Port Royal finished on nine points.
Alpha made it four wins from as many matches to capture Zone 5 with 12 points after winning 16-7 over Rousseau to finish with 12 points. Lawrence Tavern finished second with nine but had already completed their round of matches last week.
Results of other games played yesterday were: Mountain View crushed Chetolah Park 23-0; St Jude's defeated Pembroke Hall 10-3; New Providence beat Rollington Town 10-7; St George's topped St Aloysius 7-3; Rollington Town defeated Franklyn Town 18-5, while George Headley outscored Half-Way-Tree 11-6.
