Woman killed, six injured in car crash

NATASHA Aughle of Hill Avenue, Kingston 11 was killed and six other persons injured after the motorcar in which they were passengers crashed into three other motor vehicles and overturned on Spanish Town Road last night.
The injured six are 12-year-old Shamely James, of Christian Pen, Gregory Park; Shanique and Navado Lewin, 6 and 8 years old respectively, from Ambarly Close, Portsmouth; 14-year-old Kevin Hulcum; Lloyd Hulcum and Georgia Dixon.
Police said about 9:00 pm, a Subaru motor car with seven passengers aboard was traveling along Spanish Town Road heading towards Spanish Town. Upon reaching Hardware & Lumber, the Subaru crashed into the left side of a Leyland truck which was traveling in the same direction.
The driver then lost control of the motor car which careened across the dual carriageway, collided with two Toyota Hiace motor trucks which were traveling in the opposite direction and overturned. Aughle, who was a passenger of the Subaru motorcar, was thrown from the vehicle. She sustained head injuries and died on the spot.
The Hulcums, Dixon and James were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where they were admitted in serious but stable condition. Navada and Shanique were admitted at the Bustamante Hospital for Children. They are in stable condition. The driver of the Subaru motor car fled the scene.
The Duhaney Park Police are investigating.
