Good day Mrs Macaulay,

I wrote to you in 2010 where I sought advice about my husband who was denying paternity of our two daughters, and who was verbally and physically abusive.

I must say that I gathered the strength I needed and moved out with my young children. It wasn't smooth sailing — I cried, I bawled, but today I can say my life is not perfect, but I am happy. I managed to buy a house, a used car, and have done short courses and now I will be pursuing a degree programme. My girls are doing well in school and I am doing better in all aspects of my life. The secret was loving myself and taking care of my mental well-being.

Thanks again, Mrs Macaulay. We got a divorce and have both moved on with our lives. We try to have an amicable relationship for the sake of the girls. I now know that some people aren't compatible as husband and wife, and prefer the amicable relationship we share.

To all women who have gone through a tumultuous relationship, be strong, pray, and believe your joy will come.

A million thanks, Mrs Macaulay, your advice worked.
