DESPITE sustaining a broken collarbone earlier this year, the soft-spoken Dane Dawkins quietly continues to build his career and his consistency.

He maintained his recent dominance of the apprentices last Saturday when he booted home three winners on the 10-race card at Caymanas Park.

Dawkins got things going in the third race when he rode the Fitzgerald Richards-trained Boss Izzy to victory by a neck over the five-furlong (1,000m) straight course.

His second winner came in the co-feature – the Front Runner Sprint – when he steered Another Vigorous, trained by Rowan Mathie, to a three-length victory going five and a half furlongs (1,100m).

Dawkins' third winner came in the big one – the Governor General's Stakes – when he skilfully guided Will In Charge to outpace Bigdaddykool yet again over 10 furlongs (2,000m).

Will In Charge is trained by Robert Pearson.

With those victories, Dawkins took his apprentice career of winners to 76 – 14 wins behind leader Bebeto Harvey (90), with Linton Steadman in second place on 81 winners.

Those winners also enabled Dawkins to remain in sixth position in the jockeys' standing on 28 winners for 2017.
