He doesn’t get a lot of rides, but Roshane Johnson strives to make maximum use of them whenever he gets good ones.

On Saturday, the Donovan Plummer-trained Rawalpindi Express gave the young apprentice his second winner for the season from only 35 mounts.

After a mid-pack start, Johnson pushed through Rawalpindi Express on the rails to take the lead in a five-year-old and up non-winners of two event over seven and a half furlongs (1,500m).

Rawalpindi Express never relinquished the lead, and came home a winner by nine lengths in the end.

Punters enjoyed watching the exuberance that Johnson displayed at steering home a winner. Second in the race was Nasdaq Princess (Aaron Chatrie), with Vespers (Anthony Thomas) third.

Robinson, who has been finding it very difficult to ride winners, notched his second win for the season from 40 mounts when he guided Boffo, trained by Spencer Chung, to victory in the third race over six and a half furlongs (1,300m).

It was an easy win for Robinson, who basically just had to guide Boffo after hitting the lead early in the race.

Second went to Straightfromuheart (Anthony Thomas) with Photogenic (Hakeem Pottinger) third. The win by Boffo provided trainer Chung with his eighth victory of the year.
