After finishing an encouraging second on last, the Fitzroy Glispie-trained Raksha finally got the job done. With Omar Walker in the saddle, Raksha cruised home by seven and a half lengths over Mirabilis and Trini Magic in 1:41.1 for a mile (1,600m), to win her first race. Walker, who rarely partners with Glispie, sent Raksha to the lead on a sloppy track, and that was simply that. Raksha pulled away to win by close to eight lengths. The win was an affirmation of another good season being enjoyed by trainer Fitzroy Glispie, who has now saddled 20 winners.
