KINGSTON, Jamaica — Three thieves attempting to rob a man of his weed-whacker on Carlisle Avenue in Kingston 19 this morning were cut short on their mission when the man shouted for help and the police responded.

The three, however, managed to escape.

OBSERVER ONLINE understands that about 11:40am, the three entered the man's yard and attempted to steal his weed-whacker.

The police who happened to be in the area heard his cries and intercepted the thieves' car as they fled, and they crashed into a fire hydrant and ran.

The police reportedly fired at the men, and a person claiming to be an eyewitness said one of the men was injured as he was observed in a nearby gully with blood on his clothes.

Investigations continue.
