Like women, it is a given for some men to want to have children, but for some, it is neither here nor there. We asked several men why children are not a must for them in their relationships, and this is what they had to say.

It means nothing to me because having children doesn't mean you're not living your best life so I don't put that pressure on my wife. If it happens I will be happy, and if not, oh well, move along.

After I saw my wife going through a miscarriage, I saw that I was really pressuring her and that was because I was being pressured by my family and my friends who already had children and felt I needed that to complete my life. But seeing her going through that drama, I realised that my life and marriage were indeed complete and if we never have, we have each other and children are is simply not a must.

I am simply not interested in having children. I just prefer a simple life and that is it. Children bring too many complications and I see that most happy couples after having children always split and I simply want less drama in my life.

I don't think having children validates me as a man and my relationship. I don't think it is a must for me simply because of the life I want – to travel and all that. My wife is okay with me not being interested in having children because she too shares the same perspective.

I am not pushing for children because it is not a priority for me. If my wife gets pregnant, I will be happy, and if she doesn't, I will still be happy and it is simply because I see how children kill romance and break up marriages and relationships.
