Woman dies in Ash Wednesday crash

Detectives from the St Catherine South Police Division are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman on the Mandela Highway in the parish on Ash Wednesday.

She has been identified as 61-year-old Olga Maitland of Rome Avenue, Independence City, Portmore, St Catherine.

The Ferry police reported that about 7:10 pm., Maitland was attempting to cross the roadway when she was hit by a Toyota motor car travelling towards Kingston.

She sustained multiple wounds and was taken to hospital where she died while being treated.
