IN an effort to positively impact children's lives, leading automotive dealer ATL Automotive has launched the “Drive Away Hunger” initiative which will see a portion of funds from cars sold going towards a feeding programme for children in need.

The first beneficiary of the initiative was the Mulvina White Early Childhood Institution, which schools 67 children.

Adam Stewart, CEO of ATL Automotive, spoke on Drive Away Hunger.

“Since our company's inception, philanthropy and giving back have always been at the forefront of our operations; it's why we do what we do so we can help to make Jamaica a better country to live. Now our customers can feel good knowing when they're purchasing a car from ATL Automotive, whether pre-owned or new, they're helping to give our children a warm meal in the morning and contributing to the future of our country's advancement. This idea originated in one of our brainstorming sessions on how we can give back and we all unanimously agreed without a doubt that this can be done and it must be done. This is only the beginning,” he said.

Principal of the Mulvina White institute Jinnete Cameron-Ennis could hardly contain her happiness when she exclaimed: “We're elated that ATL Automotive has selected us to be the beneficiary for Drive Away Hunger. To be honest, it's been hard for us to maintain our meal programme because we could only feed a handful of children every day, but with this initiative we can go a far way in making sure every one of our children can have a warm meal before they start school.”

This initiative is the first of its kind done by any automotive company, and ATL Automotive is committed to successfully supporting the cause on a long-term basis. Monthly donations made to the school will assist with the meal plans for the children and by extension, improve children's health, as it is proven that without a proper meal in the mornings it is difficult for children to focus on tasks.

During the official hand-over, the students were treated to early Christmas gifts courtesy of the Sandals Foundation and Hasbro Inc.

Formed in 1997, ATL Automotive is the exclusive authorised dealer for automotive brands Honda, Volkswagen Audi, Porsche, BMW and MINI and in 2018, Kia serving from convenient state-of-the-art locations in Kingston and Montego Bay.
