National Rums of Jamaica Ltd continues to widen its footprint locally and internationally through its brand Monymusk Plantation Rums.

“The company is in advanced discussions with a distributor in the United States of America who will start distributing the company's brand in the second quarter of next year,” revealed Winston Harrison, chief executive officer of the company.

He added: “We are also wrapping up discussions with a distributor in Europe who will cover most of that market. Our products are currently ready for that market, having made the necessary adjustments to satisfy the required regulations.”

Speaking in Kingston at the recent launch of rums designated for the UK market, Harrison stated that with the growing interest around the brand, plans are in place to expand their facilities at Inswood in St Catherine.

“With all the interest around the brand, we have made plans to expand our facilities which will boast a state-of-the-art bottling line as well as new and improved warehousing space. We will update the media as soon as we have plans to break ground,” Harrison noted.

“There are so many exciting things happening for National Rums of Jamaica Ltd. Sales in both bulk and branded rums are up. Our branded rums are making inroads in the local market through our distributors Derrimon Trading Ltd, A & L Distributors and Quikanou.

Meanwhile, Damian Graveley, commercial manager of National Rums of Jamaica Limited, said “the product is increasingly available in more spaces”.

He also mentioned that several hotels are interested in the products and one favoured by many is Whispering Breeze Coconut Flavoured Liqueur, which is seen as one of the best available on the local market.

“Our product offerings will enable hotels having a variety of expressions in their bars which are now becoming all-inclusive in products, especially rums as demanded by their guests,” Graveley said.

National Rums of Jamaica Ltd is owned by the Government of Jamaica, Demerara Distillers Ltd — Guyana, and West Indies Rums Distillers Ltd — Barbados, and produces bulk rum which is sold both locally and internationally.

The company also produces the brand Monymusk Plantation Rum, which has five expressions, two of which won gold at The Miami Rum Festival 2017.
