Digicel launches big summer promotion today

TELECOMS giant Digicel says it will today launch a massive summer promotion, led by the company's newest regional brand ambassador, Tessanne Chin, and built around Reggae Sumfest.

Titled 'Digicel's Summer Up, Up, Up', the promotion will give winners a host of prizes, including tickets to the July 13-19 music festival in Montego Bay for which Digicel is the lead sponsor.

Under the promotion, customers will win VIP Experience packages to Reggae Sumfest, round-trip airline tickets to Jamaica from th USA for the festival, plus cash and other weekly and daily prizes.

According to Digicel, one lucky customer will win the Ultimate Sumfest Experience, which includes $500,000 cash, VIP tickets for two to Sumfest all three nights, spa make-over, VIP accommodation for two, transportation to Montego Bay, and transportation to and from Reggae Sumfest each night.

The company also said that more than 50 customers will win weekly prizes of $10,000 cash, Marley headsets, folding chairs and DL700 smartphones with one-month data plan.

"To win, customers simply need to purchase a data plan, upgrade to a smartphone, top up with $200 or more in the case of pre-paid customers or talk for 20 minutes as a post-paid customer," Digicel explained in a news release yesterday.

Digicel also said it will be giving 300 customers tickets to Reggae Sumfest with the purchase of a Huawei Ascend Mate and a three-month data plan. In addition, customers will get a free Tessanne T-shirt when they purchase a Huawei Y320 and a data plan.

The trip from the USA is being offered in partnership with Caribbean Airlines and will see one lucky person from the diaspora receiving a trip for two to attend Reggae Sumfest.

"This Ultimate Experience package also comes with tickets for four to all three nights of the festival, plus a four-night accommodation stay for four persons to link up with their family in Jamaica," Digicel said, adding that to win this package, customers need to receive US$15 or more from overseas when their family or friends top them up online.

"The summer is all about giving our customers the ultimate experiences, which include passes to the ultimate events like Sumfest to see some of the ultimate in entertainment perform, like Tessanne Chin, I-Octane and other top artistes," the release quoted Digicel's Head of Recharge Annalise Harewood.

"Summer has always been a big time of the year for Digicel and our customers; it's one time in particular when we look forward to pulling out all the stops to give our customers extraordinary value, and this is the opportunity that our association with a product like Reggae Sumfest gives us. It's going to be a very exciting summer and we are confident that our customers will feel truly rewarded," Harewood added.

The company also said it will kick off its summer roadshow tomorrow in the rural St Andrew communities of Stony Hill, Golden Spring, Lawrence Tavern, Unity, Mount Charles and Border.
