Golden Krust expands to airport
JAMAICAN-OWNED restaurant franchise Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery has added another store to its chain in the US.
The new outlet is at Newark International Airport in New Jersey.
“The company is fulfilling its vision to ‘take the taste of the islands to the world’ with this strategic positioning in one of the country’s busiest airports. Now passengers from all over the world who utilise the Newark International Airport can enjoy the authentic flavors of the islands with varied menu offerings in a bright and inviting Caribbean atmosphere,” said Golden Krust president Lowell Hawthorne at a grand opening ceremony last month.
The new restaurant will be run by Golden Krust franchisee Lorna Brissett-Romans and her husband, Clemente, according to a press release on the company website.
Founded in 1989 by Hawthorne and his family, Golden Krust is headquartered in the Bronx, New York.
Hawthorne was named Jamaica Observer Business Leader for 2010, for building arguably the world’s largest patty operation which now spans over 120 branches in nine states, employs 1,800 persons, and reports more than US$100 million in gross annual sales.
