Sangsters expands in Portmore

Books and stationary supplier, Sangster's Bookstores Limited has expanded its operations in Portmore, adding the sale of electronics to its operations.
Unlike the other Sangster's outlets, the new Portmore branch will include the sale of a range of electronics such as laptops, desktop computers and mobile phones, making the branch the first of 11 stores island-wide to provide a range of electronic devices.
The growing municipality prompted the addition of the Sangster's branch in the Portmore Pines Plaza.
"We noted the population expansion in the Portmore area as well as its large concentration of students and saw the need to cater to the growing community," said Marshall. Adding that the new location was strategic, Marshall told the Jamaica Observer, that it is hoped that the 25 000 square feet store will capture residents of Caribbean Estates and the Greater Portmore area.
An investment of nearly $45 million was made in the store, and it will provide over 25,000 books to its customers. The bookstore started its operations, last Saturday with seven employees.
This store is the second branch to be opened in Portmore in six years. Sangster's supplies and publishes books, it also works with over 250 educational institutions in providing books.
