PHOTO: Tank cleaning begins

Friday, August 24, 2012

The tank-cleaning facility now on the port of Kingston will cut the cost of freight for moving ISO tanks filled with rum and flavourings. Isocon Engineering, a Scotland-based company, partnered with Jamaican-owned JLB International to launch a tank-cleaning facility in the Kingston Harbour. Isocon's clients of over 30 years are from the region, according to its owner Micheal Kane. The tank cleaning and repair service will cover the Caribbean. He said Isocon's global clients will reposition in the region, making Jamaica a logistics hub. The operation can save importers and exporters time and money. JLB saw a need to establish an ISO tanker cleaning, repairing and testing business, according to Beverly Johnson, managing director. (Photo: Michael Gordon)
