WIHCON segments its business model
Friday, December 02, 2011
WEST Indies Home Contractors (WIHCON) has taken the decision to expand its portfolio to include luxury as well as budget homes.
"The company recently segmented its business model into two: WIHCON Homes, which will continue to bring new designs, technical capabilities and quality products to satisfy first-time buyers, and WIHCON Select, with up-market products like Somerset Homes, Sunflower Manor and Aqueduct Gates," a news release from the company quoted chairman Peter Melhado.
WIHCON, builders of nearly 40,000 homes over the past 53 years, have earned a reputation for constructing homes for buyers with modest budgets.
The company said it introduced the first-ever housing development in Jamaica and is well known for its Mona and Portmore housing solutions.
One of its most recent developments, Somerset Homes — located at Graham Heights — features 40 three-bedroom, three-bathroom townhouses with a full size ensuite bonus room that can be used for a multiplicity of purposes.
"The houses boast luxury features, including high tray ceilings in the upstairs bedrooms, which each has its own attractively appointed bathroom, double glazed windows for energy efficiency, solid wood crown mouldings and baseboards; a spacious kitchen with ample cupboards made of Maple and a beautiful granite counter top," the company said.
"In addition, five of the units will have basements that feature a full-sized bedroom and bathroom as well as a large entertainment area."
The unveiling of Somerset Homes follows the successful introduction of WIHCON's two other up-market developments at Mona.
According to the company, the 10 three-bedroom townhouses at Sunflower Manor at Mona, sold out within weeks of being put on the market. It also said that five of the 57 two-bedroom apartments at the adjacent Aqueduct Gates remain available.
