Wyndham Kingston Hotel property placed on auction
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The property that housed the Wyndham Kingston Hotel is scheduled for auction on August 13.
In newspaper advertisement today, Tuesday, July 9, Allison Pitter and Company said they have been retained by the receivers to assist with the sale of the property, assets and undertakings of the hotel.
The Wyndham Kingston Hotel was forced shut on March 14 last year after a pre-dawn fire damaged critical sections of the 303-room property in the heart of the capital city’s financial district.
It was reported that the hotel was running at about 70 per cent occupancy when the fire occurred. However, none of the guests – who occupied approximately 240 rooms – or employees were hurt during the incident.
The fire, which began in the kitchen shortly after midnight, damaged two restaurants, the banquet area, the ballroom, general storeroom, general accounting department, the engineering plant room, and the laundry, a representative of the Jamaica Fire Department said.
