The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights' (IACHR's) internship programme, managed in conjunction with the OAS Internship Program, is now open for application.

The placement period is September 12 to December 6, 2019, at the IACHR secretariat in Washington, DC.

According to the IACHR and the OAS, the programme gives young students and recent graduates from OAS member states the opportunity to learn about the IACHR and work in applying the protection mechanisms provided by the inter-American human rights system.

The IACHR has opportunities in law, international relations, political sceince, international cooperation and fund-raising, journalism, graphic and web design, computer and information technology, and translation.

During the internship, participants have the opportunity to work with the executive secretariat's professionals and staff on the various activities carried out by the IACHR, with an overall objective of learning about the commission's work and acquiring practical training in the area of human rights.

Interested applicants should apply via the OAS Internship Program website before June 2.

The internships are unpaid.


• Nestlé Jamaica

Nestlé Jamaica's Internship & Summer YOUth Programme is seeking undergraduate students at accredited insititutions — with an expected graduation date between November 2019 and January 2020 — for six-month inernships. Candidates must be able to complete an eight-week programme beginning in July 2019.

The preferred majors are business, human resources, food sciences, culinary arts, electrical engineering/maintenance, accounting/finance, communications, marketing, sales, supply chain/logistics and distribution, warehousing, merchandising, and customer service.

Nestlé says interns will work on substantial projects that provide valuable hands-on experience and the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals. An internship with Nestlé, the company says, is one of the best ways to get one's foot in the door, drastically improving one's chances of landing a full-time job at the company after graduation.

• CB Group

CB Group is seeking 15 college & university students in the areas of sales, animal management, engineering, accounting, business and technology (IT), operations management, and food production for its 12-week summer programme. Students must have completed at least ONE YEAR of studies.

The programme runs from June 10 - August 30 and is designed to give students valuable work experience, attract young talent that can grow with the company, develop the agri-business sector in Jamaica, and add value to a sustainable project period.
