ON Monday and Tuesday I was part of a highly impressive panel at Carreras to interview university students seeking either scholarships or bursaries.

On Tuesday, as heavy rains pelted the island, the six of us sat in air-conditioned comfort at the venue with juice, coffee, tea, and fruits knowing that, at lunchtime, there would be at least four choices in the meal menu.

Included in it would be Roger Clarke's suggestion to poor people............
