Dear Editor,

I wish to question the silence of the Prime Minister Andrew Holness on the Cornwall Regional Hospital issue.

It would appear, he wants to stay out of the political fracas the issue has boiled into.

But on this particular issue — the most significant health issue affecting the Jamaican people — he does not have the luxury of being silent.

I cannot help but go back to the times when Portia Simpson Miller was criticised harshly, and rightly so in many instances, for her silence on many issues of national importance.

Come on, Holness, you were not afraid of riding the British media wave of the Windrush scandal. Your people here in Jamaica need to hear your voice on a significant health issue.

Oh, and how could you not have said anything in Parliament about Tuesday's disgrace yet have the moral authority to tell children a day later at your office that crassness won't get them anywhere?

Mr Prime Minister, you cannot allow your moral leadership to be eroded.

We, I at least, support you, but let us hear from you.

Marlon Williams
