Dear Editor,

There are many Jamaican awards. at least one, the Jamaica Observer Food Awards, was initiated by the Jamaica Observer. Yet, to my knowledge, there is no Jamaica Comedian of the Year Award.

In honour of Jamaica's greatest comedian, I suggest to launch it now and call it the 'Oliver Samuels Award'.

Also, may I suggest to nominate Fitz Jackson, the PNP spokesman on security, for the 'Oliver Samuels Award 2018'.

Seriously, I agree with Mr Jackson that, in democratically ruled Jamaica, the colours of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) need to represent political reality. For the past five decades the red-striped JCF uniform trousers solely paid tribute to the People's National Party (PNP). Now, with the arrival of green bikes, green helmets and green vests, the picture is more politically balanced.

However, much more urgently needs to be done in other fields in order to establish political correctness across the country. Red Stripe Beer, for instance, in these days, is totally unacceptable. Change it to Green Stripe Beer and keep some small print red in order to do justice to the PNP as well as to the Jamaica Labour Party.

Thank you, Mr Fitz Jackson, for pointing to the issues that really matter.
