Dear Editor,

The president of the National Democratic Movement (NDM) is calling on Jamaican parliamentarians and the Ministry of Justice to make the necessary legislative changes to close any existing loopholes in the law which appear to be saving cold-blooded gangsters and murderers from the gallows.

The NDM is of the view that savage, barbaric criminals who commit and are found guilty of premeditated heinous crimes should not be kept alive at the expense of taxpayers but should receive the death penalty which is languishing on the books.

The movement is hoping that, notwithstanding the close ties between criminal gangs and the governing and opposition parties, our parliamentarians should have the humanity, decency, and testicular fortitude to do the right thing in the interest of the decent, law-abiding and hard-working people of Jamaica by making the necessary legislative amendments so that our courts can enforce the death penalty.
