Dear Editor,

The residents of McArthur Avenue, located off Hagley Park Road, have had no water since Tuesday evening. It is unacceptable that calls to the National Water Commission (NWC) Customer Call Care Centre line go unanswered.

On those occasions when you are fortunate enough to speak to a customer service ambassador at the NWC, they are only apologetic for the inconvenience. That is not good enough. We need some answers among them, when will the water;return? I am appealing to the National Water Commission in the interim to at least truck water to McArthur Avenue to relieve the residents of this inconvenience which is man-made.

The NWC's tagline 'Water is life' is clearly not evident in the treatment of their customers. Perhaps the NWC should be reminded of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #6, which addresses the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

The residents deserve better, NWC.
