Dear Editor,

I was listening to RJR's Beyond the Headlines with Dionne Jackson Miller on the evening of March 8, 2018 and Professor Fritz Pinnock was a breath of fresh air.

His achievements are commendable and his impact in developing the Caribbean Maritime Institute to the point of attaining university status is nothing short of amazing.

Professor Pinnock is a visionary. He is an inspiration to all and his story should reach more young people through different avenues.

More people in Jamaica, especially some in high places, should follow his example and think beyond the present. He foresaw logistics as a leading industry from 1989 and, over 25 years later, became involved in the maritime institute, which he transformed creditably in about a decade.

I'm excited to see the development of St Thomas as he envisions the transformation of Jamaica which will result.

His thought processes and the accompanying action for implementation are to be replicated by our policymakers.
