Dear Editor,

The National Democratic Movement (NDM) considers the latest twist to the Petrojam scandal as nothing short of disgraceful, and calls for taxpayers' money paid out to former management staff to be returned forthwith.

The NDM said the manner in which the scandalous affair has been handled by the management and board of Petrojam, which seems to have the endorsement of the attorney general and the prime minister, is most disappointing and one cannot help but question the competence and intent of those placed in positions of trust, purporting to be negotiating on behalf of and supposedly acting in the best interest of the Jamaican taxpayers in this matter.

The NDM questions the signing of a non disclosure agreement which conceals the settlement to benefit individuals who have been reviewed by the auditor general for less than satisfactory performance. This flies in the face of transparency and good governance.
