'Ladies' get 11 nods

THE Jambiz International production, Ladies of The Night leads this year's list of nominees for Actor Boy Awards with 11 nods.

The Actor Boy Awards recognises excellence in Jamaican theatre. The winners will be presented their awards at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston, St Andrew, on Monday, April 14.

Ladies of The Night — which was written, produced and directed by Patrick Brown and Trevor Nairne — chronicles the lives of four 'street walkers'.

The nominations include Best Production, Best Drama, Best New Jamaican Play, Best Actress in a Lead Role — Camille Davis, Best Actress in a Supporting Role — Sakina Deer, and Best Director — Nairne and Brown.

The Jambiz International family also has the second most nominated play with If There's a Will There's a Wife. The production, which stars Glen Campbell and Sharee McDonald-Russell, received a total of nine nominations.

Among the contenders for Actor Boy Awards are Anancy Chaptaz Winners' Circle with nine nominations; Departure in the Dark by the University Players with eight; My God Don't Wear Pajamas and Jonkanoo Jamboree with seven nods each.

Dahlia Harris' To The Finish and Thicker Than Water received six and four nods, respectively.
