After a near 90-minute delay, the 21 contestants in the 2018 Miss Universe Jamaica East pageant were unveiled at Eden Gardens Wellness Resort in St Andrew on Tuesday night.

The contestants — including Kadejah Anderson, Miss Global Jamaica 2016, and twins Jodine and Jodi Ann Campbell — appeared in formal wear before being sashed by their respective sponsors.

According to Pageant Director Sharon Beckford, they are prepared for the grand coronation after weeks of training.

“The pageant this year is very unique, because last week we had the eliminations as a public event so the public can see how we choose the finalists. We have been training the girls since April at the Fit Farm Gym, so the preparation is on target,” she told the Jamaica Observer.

The grand coronation will take place July 7 at Eden Gardens Wellness Resort. The winner is an automatic finalist for Miss Universe Jamaica.
