DANCEHALL deejay Benzly Hype is mourning the loss of his mother Beatrice Morris. The 69-year-old passed away on December 21 from complications due to cancer.

Benzly Hype is son of singer Ainsley Morris.

"This is very hard for me. I am still in a daze. Still trying to accept this. It is a very hard pill to swallow. Mi and Mi Kru was really based around her life. She was the sweetest soul," Hype told the Jamaica Observer.

Mi and Mi Kru was a television drama which started in 2009. It ran for a few seasons and is built around Benzly Hype and members (all cousins) of dancehall group Innocent Crew. Directed by Kurt Wright and Robin Chin, it also starred Audrey Reid, Professor Nuts, and Vas Blackwood.

A thanksiving service for Morris is scheduled for on Saturday, January 14, at Kingston Open Bible Church. Interment will follow at Meadowrest Memorial Gardens in St Catherine.

In addition to her widower Ainsley and Hype, Morris is survived by two sons and two adopted daughters.
