AFTER a decade of touring North America and the Pacific, Las Vegas-based reggae band, Bonafide, is looking forward to its latest assignment

Bonafide takes the stage Friday at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay, the band's hometown.

Singer and band leader Donovan 'Junior Roots' Stephen, says it is important for Bonafide to maintain ties to their country.

"No matter how big you are in the world, you still want that Jamaican connection," he said in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.

Other members of the band are drummer Donovan 'Junior Rootz' Stephens, keyboardist Robert Stephens, bassist Wayne Stevens and deejay Kerry 'Kerry Ranks' Bell .

Stephens said their Sumfest appearance is not financially motivated.

"We're not doing this for money. We can get that in Fiji, Hawaii and other parts where we have a big following... We love Jamaica," he said.

Early this year, Bonafide launched its double CD, Start and Stop, at the Terra Nova Hotel in St Andrew.

Among its tracks are Leaving Come The Morning featuring Vybz Kartel, I Wanna Be The One with Etana and the title song which features Damian 'Junior Gong' Marley.
