Bringing comfort to Manchester
KINGSTON, Jamaica — For the last 14 years events promoter Wayne Gordon has returned to his native Manchester to stage shows that benefit the community.
The Aries All White (Club Edition) is the latest of these gigs. It takes place on April 8 at Parisville Night Club in Mandeville.
Gordon, who lives in North Carolina, is from the district of Comfort. He stressed the importance of making an impact there.
“I was born in Manchester and on returning to visit my parents I decided to create an event where I can give back to the development of my community. Over the years we have assisted in different areas of the Comfort Basic School, like providing water tanks, donating paint, providing treats and many other projects,” Gordon told OBSERVER ONLINE.
Since 2002, Gordon’s New York Entertainment company has staged a number of shows in Jamaica, mainly in his home parish. They include Unity Is Strength Family Fun Day in Comfort; Wet Up Pool Party, also in Manchester and Western Bembe Invasion in Negril.
Gordon has been in the entertainment industry for over 25 years. He also operates New York Entertainment Movement Records which has released the Controversy and Changes rhythms.
