BARBADOS comes alive this weekend as the annual Cropover Festival winds down.
This evening will see the staging of the Pic-O-De-Crop finals at Kengsington Oval. This event features nine of the best calypso artistes challenging the reigning Pic-O-De-Crop Monarch for the title.
The Bridgetown Market in Spring Garden will on Saturday play host to the 'Big Street Fair'. This is one of the event marked on the Cropover calender as being filled with fun, fête and art and craft.
The festivities, which begin in the first week of July, will climax this Monday with the Grand Kadooment parade. This is where the revellers will parade along the Spring Garden Highway in the island.
Crop Over, as the name clearly suggests, is a festival to signal the end of the once dominant sugar cane harvest.
