Dancehall act Danielle (aka DI) showed her culinary skills last Friday, teaming with disc jockey Calico (Chad Hinds) to win the second Suncity 104.9 FM IGL Bubble Di Pot Celebrity Cook-off, at Portmore Pines Plaza.

Their winning dish was okra and saltfish in curry sauce with risen plantain and bammy, served with a penne pasta salad, comprising sweet corn, almonds and fruits and Italian dressing.

The event pairs disc jockeys from Portmore radio station Suncity 104.9 FM with music personalities to show off their cooking talent.

The other participants were D Angel and Sunjock Simple (Kemar Dixon), Carlene Davis and Sunjock Crystal Clear (Samuel Stewart), and Cherine Anderson and Sunjock Fire Wayne (Dwayne Cowans).

The participants were required to prepare breakfast and were judged on creativity, taste, presentation and teamwork.

DI and Sunjock Calico won $100,000 which went to the Salvation Army, their charity of choice. Runners-up D Angel and Sunjock Simple earned $75,000 prize, third-placed Carlene Davis and Sunjock Crystal Clear got $50,000 while fourth-placed Cherine Anderson and Sunjock Fire Wayne were awarded$25,000. All funds went to charity.

"It was so amazing and anything to give back to charity I definitely try to participate. It was short notice but I am happy that I could do this," said DI.

Among the judges were Suncity 104.9 FM founder Doreen Billings, restaurateur Michael Fisher and chef Kevin Brown of the Good News Restaurant.
