Downswell tops Sterling awards

Singer/producer Kevin Downswell won four awards at the inaugural Sterling Gospel Music Awards, held at Heritage Hall in Mandeville last Sunday.


He took home Album of The Year for All The Way; Male Artiste of The Year (Kevin Downswell; Local Hit of The Year for
Goodbye World and Collab of The Year for
Not Afraid which he did with Rondell Positive)


The annual Fun In The Son, which celebrated its 14th staging in 2016, won the award for Most Rated Event of The Year.


Produced by Glory Music and sponsored by Jamaica Broilers Group, last year’s show at National Heroes Park in Kingston attracted a massive crowd who saw performances from Donnie McClurkin, Evangelist Andrew Palau, Carlene Davis, Papa San, Kevin Downswell, Rondell Positive and Judith Gayle.


Fun In The Son was first held in 2002 in Ocho Rios. Its popularity influenced similar events in Haiti and New York City.


The Sterling Gospel Music Awards is an initiative of Basilia Barnaby-Cuff of Northern Caribbean University.
