Gong shines in St Kitts

Friday, July 06, 2012

Reports out of the Caribbean nation of St Kitts and Nevis note that triple Grammy award-winning artiste, Damian 'Junior Gong' Marley was a hit at the recent St Kitts music festival.

This was the artiste's first time performing in that country and reports indicate that he delivered a high level performance and was well received by the patrons at the festival.

One patron expressed to the St Kitts media that, "I liked the way he injected St Kitts into the lyrics of his hit songs which made them more relevant to the local fans. He was definitely worth my money."

The young Marley is said to have performed a variety of favourites including his new singles Affairs of the Heart and Set Up Shop. He also delivered Promise Land and Sabali from the album he voiced alongside US rapper, Nas. He then took his fans on a musical journey through his catalogue performing Ambition, Road to Zion, Beautiful, There for You and Hey Girl.

He closed his set by paying homage to his father, Bob Marley, with No More Trouble, War and Move -- his version of his father's Exodus.

Meanwhile, Junior Gong is scheduled to perform at two signature Jamaica 50 events -- Reggae Sumfest on July 21 followed by a performance at O2 in London slated for July 26.
