THE Love Box, a multi-song album of ballads by Gregory Isaacs, will be released on February 14 (Valentines Day).

It contains over 80 songs produced by Isaacs for his African Museum label, as well as tracks he recorded for producer Tad Dawkins whose Tads International Record will distribute The Love Box.

"The industry needs something like this, a collector's item. We don't have a lot of those around," Dawkins told the Jamaica Observer.

Isaacs, who died of cancer in October 2010 in London, was a lovers rock giant. Several of the songs that earned him the moniker, The Cool Ruler, are in The Love Box.

They include Soon Forward, Tune In, Front Door, Mr Brown, Sunday Morning and Night Nurse, his biggest commercial hit.

The set also contains songs that made Isaacs a popular figure in Britain, such as Another Heartbreak, Don't Go and Lonely Soldier, all recorded for the African Museum.

Born in West Kingston, Isaacs launched the African Museum in the early 1970s when his career was taking off with songs like Love is Overdue and All I Have is Love, done for producers Alvin 'GG' Ranglin and Phil Pratt, respectively.

Since the 1980s, he recorded extensively for Dawkins who produced his 2008 Grammy-nominated album, Brand New Me.
