Guinness celebration this evening

Thursday, September 27, 2012

IT'S all systems go for Arthur Guinness Celebrations to be held at the National Indoors Sports Centre in St Andrew this evening.

Now in its third year, the annual event was first celebrated when the stout celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2009.

Jamaica is the only Caribbean island on this occasion and the celebration will be broadcast across a total of 55 countries worldwide.

"This is going to be one of the best Arthur Guinness Day celebrations across the world. Jamaica has always put on a stellar show to celebrate the life and legacy of Guinness founder Sir Arthur. This year there will be fireworks from Pop Caan, Sizzla, Destra, Kerwin Dubois, and of course, Mavado, who was recently added to the line-up," said LeVaughn Flynn, brand public relations manager.

In addition to the entertainment planned, Guinness Jamaica will also be honouring 10 community heroes who will be assisted with their social development initiatives by the Arthur Guinness Fund. Over $3 million will be spent on these social programmes.

"A toast to Arthur is planned for 5:59 pm so come out early and raise a toast to Arthur while taking in an amazing production," Flynn added.
