Herbert Morrison student is Miss Hanover Festival Queen
LUCEA, Hanover - Andrene Hutchinson, an 18-year-old student at the Herbert Morrison Technical High School in St James was on Saturday crowned Miss Hanover Festival Queen 2014 at the former Jockey International Garment factory in Hanover.
Wearing the sash Bay West Wellness Clinic, Hutchinson, who hails from the small community of First Hill, topped nine beautiful and intelligent rivals from across Hanover to take the crown.
She also won $60,000 cash from Hanover Cooperative Credit Union, a television set and a weekend for two at Couples Resort in Negril.
Shortly after she was crowned, an elated Hutchinson who could hardly contained her joy, told the Jamaica Observer West that she plans to work on a raft of projects that she believes will impact positively on the parish.
Among them, she said, are a heritage campaign, a teen campaign aimed at instilling morals and values and a 'girls rule' campaign, "as a means of imparting what I have learnt from from the competition such as etiquette, social graces and modesty."
First runner-up went to 20-year-old law student Shanika Small, a resident of Hopewell, while Veronica Buchanan, also 20, a student at the Bethlehem Moravian College, placed third.
