Holt, Smith for Simply Myrna
Tuesday, February 19, 2013
VETERAN singers John Holt and Ernie Smith are this year's special guests on the annual Simply Myrna revue.
The show, now in its third year, stars Jamaica's first lady of jazz -- Myrna Hague.
Holt is scheduled for the Courtleigh Hotel in St Andrew on Saturday, March 9 while Smith will take the stage at the Golf View Hotel in Mandeville, Manchester, on Saturday, March 16.
Both shows are under the distinguished patronage of Governor General Sir Kenneth Hall and Lady Hall and will begin with pre-cocktails at 7:00 pm. Showtime is 8:00 pm.
Holt is known for his romantic-style ballads, whether performing with the sophisticated strings of the world-renown Philharmonic Orchestra or a roots-reggae band.
His hits include Stick by Me, Ali Baba, and Tonight.
Smith hits of the late 1960s and '70s include Bend Down, Ride On Sammy, One Dream, and Pitta Patta.
Performing on both shows will be the Carifolk Singers.
