IT was 11 years ago that singer Kafinal teamed with deejay Sambo for the hilarious hit song Cooking Dat Pwile, a revamp of Rhythm and Blues singer Blu Cantrell's Hit Em Up Style.

Now, Kafinal is making a comeback with his latest single, Falling in Love, a lovers' rock number he is banking on to reignite his career in Jamaica.

Kafinal, who is originally from Spanish Town, is now based in Toronto, Canada.

He got his start singing in the church as well as in school and at community events. In 2001 he made his professional debut with the songs Cooking Dat Pwile and Drive By which also had accompanying videos. However, Kafinal moved shortly after to Toronto where he made a name for himself on the dinner and concert circuits as a comedian.

Music, however, remains his first love. He says Falling in Love showcases his lyrical maturity, growth, and prowess.

Kafinal's next live outing will be tomorrow at the 22nd annual Toronto International Jamaica Day celebrations.

He will share stage with LUST, Luciano, Leroy Sibbles, and Professor Nuts.

Don Sniper drops mix tape

S-Q Records has released a new Don Sniper mix tape titled Don Sniper to The World. It features guest appearances from Vybz Kartel, Mad Cobra and Lucci Gabana.

It contains 18 tracks, some of which were previously released. The latest release is Turn it Up while another track, Get the Money featuring rapper Lucci Gabana, is riding reggae charts in New York and South Florida.

Turban X feels the evening breeze

Reggae singer Warren Whyte, aka Turban X, is making moves with his new single, the self-produced Jah Love.

It is released on his Circle in Circles label. In addition to working on his debut album, Turban X recently completed the song, The Wicked, which is featured on the Evening Breeze rhythm.

That beat was produced by Theresa Kemp and features a number of artistes including Ed Robinson, Italian reggae artiste Lupa, Mikey General, Devon Jorge, Prophecy, and Shana Wilson, daughter of legendary Jamaican singer, Delroy Wilson.

Korean artiste collaborates with Spragga Benz

Korean reggae artiste Skull recently recorded the song Don' t walk Away with dancehall veteran Spragga Benz.

Skull made headlines a few years ago with the dancehall song, Boom Di Boom, which reached number three on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop chart. His music career was put on hold after he was drafted into the South Korean army.

His new single, Cry Die, will be featured in the documentary Why in the World Are They Spraying. It is a sequel to the viral hit What in the World is They Spraying which garnered over 11 million hits.

Jimmy Cliff debuts at number 76 on the Billboard 200 Album chart with Rebirth. Over on the Reggae Album chart, it came in at number two.

Earlier this year, Cliff's Sacred Fire EP debuted at number one on Billboard's Reggae Album chart.

Jewish reggae artiste Matisyahu has scored another chart-topper on Billboard's Reggae Album chart. Spark Seeker entered the chart at number one while on the Billboard 200, it debuted at number 19.

No Doubt's reggae-flavoured single Settle Down, made number 34 in its first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100.
